Our Mission

To harness the potential of Civil Society Organisations to produce, uptake, and use citizen data to inform research, policy, development agendas, accountability, and good governance.

Our Objectives

To strengthen citizen data driven advocacy, partnerships and collaboration for inclusion of diverse community perspectives and marginalized population groups in development programs

The Advisory Gender Data Hub Initiative is a civil society-focused initiative that supports the production, management, and use of Citizen Generated Data.

Citizen Generated Data is information that citizens or community members voluntarily contribute to reflect their lived realities, monitor issues, improve service delivery, and influence decision-making. It helps communities provide evidence on matters such as gender-based violence, education, health services, corruption, public accountability, environmental change, road damage, market prices, and service delivery gaps.

Many Civil Society Organisations already collect valuable community-level data. However, this data is often fragmented, inconsistent, poorly documented, or not aligned with official data systems and policy processes. As a result, important community evidence may not be used in planning, budgeting, service delivery, or accountability.

AGDHI exists to close this gap.

We build the capacity of CSOs to collect high-quality data, apply ethical data practices, use common standards, analyze evidence, produce policy-ready reports, and engage decision-makers. Through the Gender Research and Data Hub, AGDHI also supports a shared platform where CGD tools, datasets, reports, policies, and principles can be published and used by CSOs, government, researchers, and development partners.

Our work ensures that community voices are not only heard, but transformed into credible evidence for action.

The Challenge we address

Civil Society Organisations generate important community-level data, but much of it remains underused. Many CSOs collect data without common standards, clear metadata, consistent methodology, or strong systems for quality assurance and analysis.

This makes it difficult for citizen evidence to be trusted, compared, integrated, or used in policy processes.

At the same time, official statistics and traditional data sources may not always capture real-time, hyper-local community experiences. Citizen Generated Data helps fill these gaps by providing granular insights into issues affecting people’s daily lives.

AGDHI helps CSOs strengthen their data systems so that community evidence becomes credible, ethical, policy-ready, and useful for decision-making.

Our Solution

AGDHI strengthens the full Citizen Generated Data journey — from community data collection to policy influence.

We support CSOs to collect data ethically, improve data quality, organize datasets, apply common standards, analyze trends, produce evidence products, and engage decision-makers.

Through the Gender DataHub, AGDHI provides a pathway for fragmented citizen data to become trusted, policy-ready information. The platform supports data governance, analytics, aggregation, reporting, and publication of CGD tools, datasets, policies, and evidence products.
